LETTER FROM THE SECRETARY GENERAL
Greetings Delegates and Faculty Advisors,
It is with great pleasure that I here welcome you for the first edition of the Model UN Conference of the Symbiosis School for Liberal Arts – the SSLA Summit 2018.
“We want change,” we say as we see the world today. But, what is change? Who is this change? You, me or the girl sitting next to you?
SSLA Summit intends to provide a platform for each of you out there who are just as bothered and affected by the current world orders as we are; who believe that it is high time that voices are raised, and heard; and who know that it is rather imperative for change to occur – even if that’s in the form of you or me.
A Model UN conference for high school and college students in the country, we primarily aim to reinstate the importance of public speaking, negotiation skills, and the ability to have constructive debate and discourse amongst the youth of today. We don’t just want to be aware enough to question, but also to be prepared enough to answer.
We here hope to address the constant threat of warfare and extremism, inherent racism, increasing number of refugees, legal disparities, unheard gender biases, and every single issue that is bothering you today.
A little hope with a little more determination can take this world a long way. I promise.
So come join us, in this journey of the SSLA Summit 2018.
Oishika Neogi, Secretary General
