LETTER FROM THE SECRETARY GENERAL
Greetings Delegates and Faculty Advisors,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you for the SSLA Summit 2018, the first edition of a series of Model UN Conferences, organised by the Symbiosis School for Liberal Arts.
“We want change,” we say as we see the world today. But, what is change? Who is this change? Is it you, me, or the girl sitting next to you?
SSLA Summit intends to provide a platform for every student who is just as bothered and affected by the current world orders as we are; who believe that it is high time that voices are raised and heard; who know that it is imperative for change to occur – even if that’s in the form of you or me.
A Model UN conference for high school and college students in the country, we primarily aim to reinstate the importance of public speaking, negotiation skills, and the ability to have constructive debate and discourse, amongst the youth of today. We believe that it is not enough to be aware enough to question. We must also to be prepared enough to give answers.
We at SSLA Summit hope to encourage healthy discussions about the constant threat of warfare and extremism, inherent racism, increasing number of refugees, legal disparities, unheard gender biases, and other such issues that plague the world today.
A little hope with a little more determination can take this world a long way, I promise.
So come join us, in this journey of the SSLA Summit 2018.
Oishika Neogi, Secretary General
